Arno Walter (* thirtieth September 1967 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German banker and, since January 2020 Executive Vice President Wealth Management & corporate clients of Commerzbank .

Life

After training as a banker at Dresdner Bank , Walter studied business administration at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In 1995 he took on a position as a project manager in the private customer business of Dresdner Bank, moved to Deutsche Börse Group in 2000 and finally joined Commerzbank in 2002 . Among other things, Walter was responsible for business in Eastern Europe. After the takeover of Dresdner Bank by Commerzbank, he played a leading role in the merger of the two institutes as divisional director for organization. He then moved to the same role in sales responsibility for private and business customers in southwest Germany. In addition, Walter was most recently chairman of the committee of speakers for senior executives at Commerzbank.

Arno Walter took up the position of CEO of the Comdirect Bank in March 2015. Among other things, he pushed the expansion of mobile banking and securities trading . He also positioned the bank as a partner for start-ups in the financial technology sector . In the digital area, the offer has also been expanded, for example most recently by connecting the payment services Google Pay and Apple Pay . Walter made the Comdirect Bank a pioneer in digitization within the group. During his tenure, the finance portal Onvista.de and Onvista Bank were taken over. The Comdirect Bank concentrated under Walter's leadership on the core business with private customers.

In the meantime, Commerzbank is aiming for a merger with Comdirect Bank, founded in 1994. As part of this, Walter returned to the parent company at the beginning of 2020 as Head of Wealth Management & Corporate Customers.
