Arnold Vogt

Arnold Vogt (born March 7, 1952 in Rüthen ; † December 29, 2004 ) was a German museum educator . He was a professor at the University of Technology, Economics and Culture in Leipzig .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1970 and doing basic military service in the Bundeswehr from 1973 onwards, Vogt studied history, theology, philosophy and educational science at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster as a scholarship holder of the Orth ab Hagen Foundation , and passed the state examinations (1978, 1985) for the higher teaching post and was in 1983 with the military historian Werner Hahlweg with the dissertation Religion in the military. He worked as an employee at the Lippisches Landesmuseum in Detmold and at the Münster City Museum . He was also a lecturer for monument and museum education at the University of Münster. From 1993 to 2004 he was Professor of Museum Education in the Book and Museum Department at the University of Technology, Economics and Culture in Leipzig. In 2002 he was a founding member and later honorary chairman of the working group for museum education in East Germany . In addition, he was a member of the Regional Association of East Germany in the Federal Association of Museum Education and a voting member of the International Committee for Museology (ICOFOM).

He was buried in the central cemetery in Münster .

Arnold Vogt Prize for Museum Education

Since 2006, the Media Faculty of the HTWK Leipzig has been awarding the Arnold Vogt Prize for Museum Education, the 1000 Euro sponsorship prize for “practice-relevant, innovative research results”.
