Arnold Wagner
Arnold Wagner (born July 29, 1890 in Stans ; † January 15, 1980 ibid), entitled to live in Dallenwil , was a Swiss politician ( KVP ).
Life
Family and work
Arnold Wagner, son of the government councilor of Nidwalden and entrepreneur Robert Wagner, completed an agricultural training in Sursee after attending school in Stans . Wagner subsequently worked as a farmer in the Grosslehli in Stans, later he was employed there as a dairy operator. Wagner, who married Christina, daughter of the monastery tenant Franz Joller, in 1913, died in 1980 at the age of 90 in his home town of Stans.
Political career
Arnold Wagner, who joined the Swiss Conservative People's Party (KVP), initially served as a local councilor in Stans. In 1925 Wagner took a seat for his party in the Nidwalden district administrator , to which he belonged until he moved to the government council in 1934, of which his last year as president. In the government council, in which he was represented until 1955, he was in charge of the poor and guardianship directorate as well as the agricultural directorate.
In 1943 Arnold Wagner was elected to succeed Gottfried Odermatt in the National Council, from which he resigned after three legislative terms in 1955. In 1942 he was appointed president of the Catholic-Conservative People's Party of Nidwalden, which was re-established after the fight for Bannalp. In 1945 Arnold Wagner was given the presidency of the Association of the Eight Nidwalden Common Alps, which he held until 1960.
Arnold Wagner earned services in the context of the cultivation battle during the Second World War in the improvement of the extensive streuerieder (flat moors) in Nidwalden.
