Chaefchufu (also read Chufuchaef , actually Cha-ef-Chufu ) is the name of an ancient Egyptian prince who was the son of King ( Pharaoh ) Cheops in the 4th Dynasty during the Old Kingdom . His mother was Queen Henutsen . Some Egyptologists suspect that he was not identical to King Chephren : he might have changed his name from "Cha-ef-Chufu" to "Cha-ef-Re" after he ascended the throne . However, this theory is controversial. Chaefchufu carried among other things the title "Head of the Western Desert" ( Imi-ra-semat-imentet ).

Chaefchufu was buried in the double mastaba G 7130-7140 in the pyramid necropolis of Cheops in Giza . While grave G 7130 belonged to his wife Neferet-kau , he owned grave G 7140 himself.
