Arnulf Pilhatsch

Arnulf Pilhatsch (born January 9, 1925 in Gnas ; † August 1, 2000 in Sankt Nikolai im Sausal ) was an Austrian high jumper , decathlete , triple jumper , basketball player and rally driver .

Life

In the high jump he was eliminated from the qualification at the 1948 Olympic Games in London and won silver at the International University Sports Week in 1951. At the European Athletics Championships in 1954 in Bern, he was eighth in the decathlon.

He was Austrian champion eleven times in the high jump (1941-1943, 1946-1949, 1951-1954), four times in the decathlon (1950-1953) and once in the triple jump (1949).

After his athletics career , he became a rally driver . In 1965 he won the Alpine Tour with Peter Lederer as co-driver .

His son Alexander Pilhatsch took part in the Olympic Games as a swimmer in 1984 and 1988. His granddaughter Caroline Pilhatsch is also a successful swimmer.
