The Aros Bay is a bay on the east coast of the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . It is located about seven kilometers south of McArthur's Head and 15 km southeast of the island's capital Bowmore . The approximately 400 m wide bay cuts 600 m deep into the land. In the north it is separated from the neighboring bay of Claggain Bay by Cape Trudernish Point . At the head of Aros Bay, the stream flows into the Kintour River , which rises on the slopes of the Beinn Uraraidh . Although Aros Bay is in a sparsely populated part of the island, it can be reached by road. The single-lane road leads from Port Ellen via Lagavulin , Ardbeg and Trudernish to Ardtalla in the north .
Older records tell of the remains of a historic circle of huts near the mouth of the Kintour River in Aros Bay. However, these could not be found during a later excursion.
