The Kintour River is a river on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . It is formed by the confluence of two mountain streams, the out hole Dearg on Sgorra flowing Abhainn Staoin and from hole at Clach flowing nameless creek. On its course, the Kintour River, which runs mainly in an easterly direction, flows through the sparsely populated southeast of the island. It passes the small scattered settlement of Kintour before it pours into Aros Bay about a kilometer northeast of it . To the north of Kintour, it takes up the streams flowing from the lakes Loch a 'Mhaoil and Loch Tallant .
Various remains of previous settlements have been found along the Kintour River. There was once a dun on a 15 m high hill . This comprised an area of 18 m × 11 m and was surrounded by a wall between 2 and 3.5 m thick and one meter high. A few hundred meters away are the remains of three round huts. These were between 4.5 and 7.5 m in diameter and had masonry up to 2.5 m thick. In the area of the upper reaches there may be the remains of a Shieling hut.
