Les Arriondes is the capital of the Spanish municipality of Parres in the east of the autonomous community of Asturias .
It is seven kilometers from Cangas de Onís and 65 km from Oviedo and is in a valley formed by the Sella and Piloña rivers.
The most important economic branch of the place is tourism . The place is a starting point for hikes in the Picos de Europa and serves as a transport hub between buses that go to the surrounding high mountains and long-distance buses that go to Oviedo, Gijón and Santander . Les Arriondes also has a train station operated by the FEVE railway company , from which regional trains run approximately every two hours to the coastal town of Llanes . Individual trains run from Santander to Oviedo via Les Arriondes. There are some hotels in this place that are not only used for alpine tourism. The River Sella between Les Arriondes and Ribadesella among canoeists a known distance, on the year of "Descenso de la Sella", an international canoe race takes place.
A hospital named after Francisco Grande Covián has existed in the La Castañera district since 1997 .
