Ribadesella is a Spanish municipality and also a city in the Autonomous Community of Asturias at the mouth of the Sella River (Spanish: Rio Sella - hence the name).

geography

The city with 5746 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) is 1 - 42 m above sea ​​level on the Cantabrian Sea on an area of ​​84.37 km² on the coastal landscape of Costa Verde . Events

Every year on the first Saturday in August, the Descenso del Sella takes place, an international canoe race from Arriondas, 20 km away, downstream on the Sella to Ribadesella. The goal is the central bridge over the Sella in the city. The Fiesta de las Piraguas is then celebrated there on the occasion of the race .
