Location of the municipality

Caravia is a Spanish municipality (in Asturias concejo , in the rest of Spain municipio ) in the autonomous region of Asturias . The residents of Caravia are called caravianu or caraviana in the local language .

geography

Caravia is the third smallest municipality in Asturias. Its main places are Prado (Asturian Prau ), Duesos and Duyos. The municipality is 68 km from Oviedo .

El Fito in the south of the municipality is the highest point at 631  m . In the north, the municipality borders the sea ( Bay of Biscay ) and has the beaches of La Beciella, El Arenal de Morís and La Espasa. The central part of the municipality, together with the municipalities of Colunga , Piloña , Parres and Ribadesella, forms the Sierra del Sueve .

According to the coastal area, the climate is maritime and humid with pleasantly mild summers and mild, rarely harsh winters. Due to the Picos de Europa in the hinterland, morning fog can be expected in spring and autumn.
