Illas is a concejo of the Autonomous Region of Asturias . (In Asturias and Galicia, the Concejos correspond to the Municipios in the rest of Spain.) It borders on Castrillón and Corvera to the north, Las Regueras and Llanera to the south, Corvera and Llanera to the east and Candamo to the west .
The main town, Callezuela, is a village with about 130 inhabitants.
history
The settlement of the region began as early as prehistoric times with a key function for the entire Asturias, as evidenced by finds from La Reigada ( necropolis ) and el Cerru de la Peña.
in the year 900 Illas was first mentioned in a document, under Alfonso III. an ecclesiastical "charter" was deposited in Oviedo .

geography
Limestone and slate are the dominant rock formations that can be clearly seen in the mountain ranges of the Sierra Tabornedo that border to the south . The Rio Villa Terejo and several of its smaller tributaries cross the Parroquia.
Transport links
The nearest airport in Oviedo is 37 km from Illas. Coming from Aviles on the AS-237 there is a dedicated Callezuela exit. FEVE stops are in every location.

Attractions
- Several old, partly still in operation water mills on the Ruta des Molinos in an impressive landscape.
- Church of San Julián in Illas, by King Alsons III. Church founded in 903.
- San Jorge Church in La Peral, built in 1936, rebuilt after a fire. The high altar comes from the Church of San Nicolás de Bari (Avilés).
- Many chapels in different architectural styles can be seen in the region.
