Pesoz is a municipality in the Asturias Autonomous Region in northern Spain .

location

The municipality borders Illano in the north, Grandas de Salime in the south, Allande in the west and San Martín de Oscos in the east.

history

Finds from the Stone Age confirm the early settlement of the region. So they found barrows and dolmens , which are still very impressive evidence of this era.

Several hill forts also bear witness to the settlement by the Gallaekers and Asturians .

geology

land

The subsoil, consisting mainly of limestone and slate , with the Cornomandil (856 m) as the highest elevation, gives the wine grown here its typical terroir .

Waters

The municipality is crossed by the Rio Navia , the Río Agüeiria and one of its tributaries, the Rio Ahío .

climate

As in large parts of Asturias, the proximity to the Gulf Stream means that the climate here is almost Mediterranean, with warm summers and mild winters, with relatively strong storms in spring and autumn.

economy

Agriculture and cattle farming characterize the small community, in the old tradition wine is also grown here, the limestone slate soil creates a hard, full-fruity red wine that goes well with the dishes on offer (especially game, beef and, interestingly, trout).
