Ass bomb

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An ass bomb , also known as a packet jump , is a jump into the water, whereby the jumper usually first touches the water with his buttocks . The technique is called splash diving as a sport .

description

This type of jump distributes the momentum of the jumper on penetration over the largest possible surface, so that a large part of the kinetic energy is given off by displacement of water . This means that the water splashes much further and higher than with other jumps and the depth of immersion of the jumper is minimized. When jumping from a 10-meter tower and a corresponding speed of a little over 50 km / h, a jumper with this technique is braked completely within only about 1.5 meters. The popularity of this jumping technique among children and adolescents is explained by the attention and amazement effects that can be achieved with other pool visitors. The impact on the surface of the water creates a loud clapping sound, and by choosing an oblique angle of impact one can steer the direction of the splashing water. This acoustic effect is reinforced by the visual effect of the splashing water.

The parcel jump is the most advantageous jumping technique for the ratio of pain intensity to immersion depth, but the German Life-Rescue Society (DLRG) recommends never jumping into unknown waters. Despite the similarity, the “packet jump” must be differentiated from the “ass bomb”, since the former does not jump off in order not to supply any further energy for a shallow immersion depth. The legs hit the water surface first when the jumper slowly drops onto the water surface. If it hits the surface of the water, the “package” is quickly opened by spreading out arms and legs. In this way, the immersion depth can be significantly reduced.

Splashdiver while diving into the water

Splash diving as a sport includes all jumps into the water of a swimming pool where you first touch the water with your buttocks. The origin has already been proven in Hawaii around 1700 . Under the name Lele Pahu (German roughly like diving a drum ), the aim of these competitions was to splash up as much water as possible on impact. In contrast to this, there was the Lele Kawa in Hawaii, which splashes as little water as possible. More recently the following are to be mentioned:

  • The Splashdiving World Championships are an international competition with the aim of determining the world champion in freestyle bomb jumping from a 10-meter tower. The competitions differ from the forerunner ass bomb - the world championship in the competition process as well as the set of rules and meet an international claim.
  • The "World of Records" are international competitions or bets from all heights, in which new and existing records in bomb jumping are recorded in writing and published. They are of no age limit. The competitions include, for example, continuous bomb jumping, fountain height and volume jumping.
  • The "Sportclub Bombing Bounce" is an international sports club where members can take exams and receive a badge, attend training camps or make it easier for them to enter the world of splash diving.
