Ass forest
Arschwald is a field name that is used for two forests in Switzerland :
- The Arschwald in Amden , Canton St. Gallen , at an altitude of around 1300 m above sea level. M. can be reached via a road from Starkenbach .
- The Arschwald in Glarus Nord , Canton Glarus , above Näfels , at an altitude of around 1000 m above sea level. M. , can be reached via the road into the Oberseetal .
The field name is of Rhaeto-Romanic origin and comes from the Latin arsus 'burned' . It goes back to an original fire clearance.
