ArtEZ Art & Design in Enschede is a Dutch university of applied sciences (Hoger Beroepsonderwijs / hbo) for design and fine art . In 2002 the AKI (Academy for Art and Industry) was renamed the Academy for Art & Design and in 2006 it became part of the ArtEZ - Hogeschool voor de Kunsten department as the ArtEZ Art & Design Enschede department. A four-year course for Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) or Bachelor of Design (BDes) is offered.
history
At the beginning of 2013 the academy (from the former chemistry building / since 1998 AKI building) on the campus of the University of Twente to the building of the former textile factory Tetem 2 in the Hulsmaatstraat in the Roombeek district took place.
Admission requirements for students
The school requirement for admission of the students is the completion of one of the three types of school: Mbo / German Realschule , Havo / German technical college entrance qualification or Vwo / German Abitur (see educational system in the Netherlands ). Foreign students need the language level NT2 A2 to be admitted to the course. Passing the one-day admission test at the academy is a further admission requirement.
Introductory year
In the propedeuse / introductory year, all students (for design and fine arts) are in a group. The lecturers give the students assignments that the students should use to orient themselves. After this first year, the student chooses either design or one of the three areas of “free art” consisting of painting , sculpture or “free media art”: ( film , photography , new media ).
Bachelor Fine Art
The students work in small groups and set up a lesson plan for each semester (in consultation with the lecturers). In the third year of study, a stay abroad can take place via the international exchange program. In the fourth year of study, the student works on the exam presentation. In addition to the “practical training”, there is an art history course and a “theoretical guide to professional practice”.
