Art Trouble is a 1934 American short film directed by Ralph Staub . Actor James Stewart made his film debut here.
action
Burton and his little brother are forced by their wealthy parents to go to Paris to study art. The brothers don't want to and instead send two simple painters to Paris who are now studying art under their names. Both painters live well on the money Burton's parents send them. The dizziness can be sustained for the time being, as Burton and his brother gave the two painters their own letters, which the painters now regularly send to their parents. When the two painters win an art competition, the dizziness becomes apparent in the end.
production
Art Trouble was made in the summer of 1934. The film was set in New York City . The film marks the screen debut of James Stewart , who took on the role of older brother Burton. Like Marjorie Main , who later also became a movie star, he was not mentioned in the credits .
At the time of filming, James Stewart had just played in a summer theater on Long Island and only accepted the role because “the offer of $ 50 a day [...] then [seemed] completely illusory to him. I guess I just wanted to know if this wasn't a joke. It wasn't. "
