The Artemisio ( Greek Αρτεμίσιο , n. Sg.) Is a mountain on the Peloponnese in the areas of the regional districts of Argolis and Arcadia . In the north-west it is connected to the Lyrkio , in the west it merges into the highlands of Mandinia . In the south joins the Ktenias (Κτενιάς). The Artemisio is part of the extensive mountain range that stretches from the Gulf of Corinth to the Argolic Gulf through the Peloponnese.
The highest peak is to the east of Nestani at 1771 m.
Surname
Pausanias reports that there was a temple of Artemis on the top of the mountain. The temple was located in a yew grove that was destroyed by loggers. Yew trees can still be found on the mountain today.
Because of the population of the rare masked warbler, the Lyrkio, together with areas in neighboring Artemisio, forms one of the 196 Important Areas for Birds in Greece (Greek σημαντικές περιοχές για πουλιά της Ελλάδας (ΣΠΠΕ)).

The road Tripoli (Greece) - Corinth (Ανατολική Οδός Πελοποννήσου) runs over the Artemisio . Work on the tunnels dragged on from 1992 to 2009 .
