Arthur Mertins

Arthur Mertins (born April 25, 1898 in Tilsit , † December 9, 1979 in Otterndorf ) was a German SPD politician .

Mertins was a teacher and from August 1929 to September 1930 and from March to June 1933 a member of the Reichstag . On the basis of Section 4 of the Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service of April 7, 1933, he was dismissed from his teaching post and was unemployed until 1936. He then worked as a real estate agent in Königsberg and was a sergeant major in the Wehrmacht from 1939 to 1945 .

After the Second World War , Mertins was a member of the German Bundestag in its first legislative period from 1949 to 1953. He was directly elected in the constituency of Cuxhaven-Hadeln-Wesermünde .
