Arthur S. Moreau Junior
Arthur S. Moreau Jr. (born June 3, 1931 in Mount Rainier , Maryland , † December 8, 1986 in Naples ) was an admiral in the US Navy and, until his death, commander of the United States Naval Forces Europe (NAVEUR) and at the same time Commander-in-Chief Allied Forces Southern Europe (CINCSOUTH) of NATO .
Life
After attending school, Moreau began his training at the US Naval Academy and joined the US Navy in 1953.
During his military career he was, among other things, commander of the US Naval Base Subic Bay in the Philippines and deputy chief of Naval Operations , before finally becoming assistant to General John W. Vessey junior , chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, from May 1983 to October 1985 was.
Subsequently, Admiral Arthur S. Moreau Jr. succeeded Admiral Lee Baggett junior as Commander of the United States Naval Forces Europe (NAVEUR) and thus until his death from a myocardial infarction for the US Navy in Italy , Greece , Turkey , the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea .
