Björnänge is a locality ( tätort ) in the town of Åre in the Swedish province of County of Jämtland . A total of 254 inhabitants (2010) live on an area of 40 hectares. Björnänge at the foot of Åreskutan and on the north shore of here for Åresjön widened Indalsälven about three kilometers southeast of Åre . Björnänge has the easternmost ski slopes in the entire Åre ski area.
Before 2010, the population of the place was below 200 (2005: 167), and it was statistically recorded as a small place ( småort ) under the name Björnänge och Hårbörsta - the names of the two districts that are close together. In 2010 a population of over 200 was determined for the first time, and the place was given the name Björnänge as the current crime scene .
Infrastructure
Björnänge is on Europastraße 14 . The Mittbanan crosses the town, but has no train station here. The nearest train stations are in Åre and Undersåker . During the ski season, ski buses connect Björnänge with other places in the ski area.
Attractions
To the north of Björnänge lies Fröå Gruva , a former copper mine that is now a museum. In the district of Hårbörsta there is a monument that commemorates the Carolinian death march in the winter of 1718/1719 during the Great Northern War .
