Järpen is a place in the historic Swedish province of Jämtland and today's province of Jämtland County .
The place is about 70 kilometers northwest of Östersund and is the capital of the municipality of Åre .
At Järpen the Järpströmmen , the outflow of the Kallsjön, flows into the Indalsälven .
Infrastructure
In the south of Järpen, the European route 14 runs from Trondheim to Östersund. Järpen has a train station on Mittbanan , from which there are regular connections to Östersund, Trondheim, Stockholm and southern Sweden. The only grammar school in the municipality of Åre is located in Järpen . Attached to the grammar school is a ski school , whose most famous graduates include André Myhrer , Ylva Nowén and Fredrik Nyberg .
Attractions
Järpe skans is located 1.2 kilometers northwest of the center. It was built between 1677 and 1700, making it the oldest building in Järpen.
