Undersåker is a place in the municipality of Åre in the Swedish province of Jämtlands län . A total of 573 inhabitants live on an area of 148 hectares (as of December 31, 2015). The Indalsälven flows along the southern edge of the village . Eight kilometers northwest of Undersåker is Åre , one of the largest ski resorts in Sweden. To the east is Järpen , the main town in Åre municipality.
Infrastructure
The European route 14 runs through Undersåker from Östersund to Trondheim . There is also a train station on Mittbanan , from which there are regular train connections to Östersund, Trondheim, Stockholm and southern Sweden. The station is mainly used by hikers who take the bus from here to Vålådalen , 27 kilometers south, to start hikes in the Jämtland fells .
