Arthur Winkler-Hermaden (diplomat)

Arthur Winkler-Hermaden (born October 12, 1965 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian diplomat and was the ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Kingdom of Sweden from 2013 to 2018 .

Life

Arthur Medard Viktor Winkler Hermaden graduated on public Stiftsgymnasium the Benedictines of St. Paul in the Lavant Valley ( human High School ) and studied at the Vienna University of Economics Economics and at the University of Vienna political science.

Professional career

From 1999 to 2000 Arthur Winkler-Hermaden was in the Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs in the Department for  OSCE  and the Council of Europe and was responsible for the Austrian Chairmanship of the  OSCE ..

From 2000 he worked in the cabinet of Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero-Waldner . For four years he was a consultant on legal and consular issues. In 2004 he was deputy head of mission and envoy in the embassy council at the Austrian embassy in Stockholm . After four years he switched to the Austrian Embassy in Moscow as envoy . In 2009 he was in the cabinet of Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger . There he was responsible for foreign policy planning and coordination. In 2011 he worked in the cabinet of Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger as a foreign policy advisor to the Vice Chancellor.

Between 2012 and 2014 Arthur Winkler-Hermaden was Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Principality of Liechtenstein and from 2013 to 2018 Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Kingdom of Sweden.
