The Artillery Regiment 4 of the Bundeswehr was set up in 1956 under the name Feldartillerieregiment 4 as part of the 4th Panzer Grenadier Division and was stationed in Regensburg . In 1959 it was renamed Artillery Regiment 4 .

In Army Structure 4 , Artillery Regiment 4 comprised the following parts:
- Artillery Regiment 4 (staff), Prinz-Leopold-Kaserne , Regensburg
- Field Artillery Battalion 41, Nibelungen Barracks , Regensburg
- 42 Missile Artillery Battalion, General-von-Steuben-Kaserne , Hemau
- Observation Battalion 43, Leopold Barracks , Amberg
- Accompanying battery 4, General-von-Steuben-Kaserne, Hemau
In the course of taking Army Structure V , the regiment belonged to the 1st Mountain Division since October 1, 1993 . The rocket artillery battalion 42 (Hemau) had brought it with them from the 4th division, while the regiment came under the command of the mountain observation artillery battalion 83 (Landsberg) from the 1st mountain division. In addition, there was the drone battery 200 ( Canadair CL-289 ) in Munich ( Fürst-Wrede-Kaserne ), as well as the stick battery. In 1997 the regiment moved to its new location in Cham ( North Caucasus ). In the course of the transformation of the Bundeswehr , the regiment was dissolved in 2002.
