The Nordgaukaserne is a barracks of the Bundeswehr in Cham , Bavaria . It was built from 1958 and on June 9, 1967 was named "North Caucasus". The barracks are located on Nordgaustraße.
history
Construction of the barracks began in 1958. On July 1, 1959, the 113 Panzer Grenadier Battalion moved into the barracks. The ceremonial handover of the barracks to Lieutenant Colonel Herold took place on August 3, 1959 on the market square in Cham. In 1966 the on-site shooting range in Geigen attached to the barracks was completed. After the dissolution of Jäger Battalion 113 in 1997, the staff of Artillery Regiment 4 and two companies of Telecommunications Regiment 4 moved from Regensburg to the North Caucasus. After the dissolution of the 4 artillery regiment and the reorganization of the 4 telecommunications regiment in 2002, the 4 telecommunications battalion was set up in Cham in 2004.
As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr , Telecommunications Battalion 4 was dissolved in 2014, but the location was not given up. At the beginning of 2018, the headquarters and the headquarters and telecommunications company of Panzer Brigade 12 were relocated from Amberg to Cham. The site has around 800 posts.
