Artjom Nikolajewitsch Norin ( Russian Артём Николаевич Норин ; Artem Norin at the FIS based on an English transcription ; born December 8, 1983 in Salekhard ) is a Russian cross-country skier .

Career

Norin took part in FIS competitions from 2001 to 2014 . He ran his first of a total of 14 individual World Cup races in January 2003 in Kawgolowo , which he finished in 49th place over 10 km freestyle. At the Junior World Championships in Sollefteå the following month , he won the gold medal with the relay and took sixth place over 10 km classic. In the 2003/04 season he won his first World Cup points in Oslo with 13th place over 50 km freestyle and 19th place in Pragelato over 30 km freestyle. These were also his best placings in the individual World Cup. In the following year he achieved 53rd place in the sprint and 44th place in the mass start race over 50 km at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf . In March 2005 he finished 30th over 50 km classic in the World Cup in Oslo for the last time in the points. He completed his last World Cup race in November 2005 in Kuusamo , which he finished in 63rd place over 15 km freestyle. From 2007 to 2014 he mainly took part in the Eastern Europe Cup . He achieved second places (in November 2008 in Vershina Tjoi over 15 km classic and in November 2011 in Vershina Tjoi over 15 km freestyle) and took sixth place in the overall ranking in the 2008/09 season .
