Style Frank (* 9. March 1933 in Westbrook , Maine ) is an American jazz - drummer and author .

Career

Artt Frank attended the jazz clubs on 52nd Street in 1948 at the age of fifteen , where he met the drummer Stan Levey . Frank worked with Chet Baker for over twenty years , featured on his 1980 album Burnin 'at Backstreet . He also played with Jimmy Heath , Al Cohn , Ted Curson , Sonny Stitt , Phil Moore and Billie Holiday . With his Artt Frank Jazz Ensemble he presented the album Waltz for Sharon Stone in 1997 , which he a. a. Recorded with Rich Perry and Ali Ryerson . In 2004 the album In the Moment was created . Frank, who was also active as a composer and songwriter, wrote the textbook Essentials for the Bebop Drummer (Schaffner Press) with Pete Swan . He lives in Tucson . In 2014 he published the biography Chet Baker: The Missing Years, A Memoir .
