Artur Bear
Artur Bär (born December 18, 1884 in Crimmitschau , † January 13, 1972 in Radebeul ; real name Bruno Arthur Bär ) was a German painter , commercial artist , etcher and illustrator .
Life
Bär completed an apprenticeship as a wood sculptor from 1899 to 1902 before studying at the technical school for carvers and the trade school in Leipzig from 1903. In 1905 he attended the Grand Ducal Art School in Weimar . From 1908 he was a student of Ludwig von Hofmann and Sascha Schneider at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden and a master student of Gotthardt Kuehl . In the field of graphics he took lessons from Richard Müller .
After completing his training, he initially worked as a decorative painter, later followed by landscape paintings, portraits and book illustrations.
Bear was buried in the Dresden Heidefriedhof .
