Artur Tammiko , native Alfred Prunn (born May 29 jul. / 11. June  1903 greg. In St. Petersburg , Russian Empire ; † 25. December 1981 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) was an Estonian footballer and theologian Baltic German origin . With the Estonian national soccer team , Tammiko played in the first international match of the Republic of Estonia against a selection from Finland in 1920 .

Life

Artur Tammiko was born in 1903 as the son of Johannes Prunn and his wife Louise (née Jolldorf) in St. Petersburg in the Russian Empire . He was baptized under the name Alfred Prunn before his first and last name were estonized in 1931. In October 1920 Tammiko (still under the name Alfred Prunn) took part with the Estonian national team in the first international match in the history of the young nation against Finland . In the same year he played for the club JK Tallinna Kalev . In 1927 he graduated from the evening grammar school in Tallinn successfully. In 1931, 1934 to 1940 and 1942 to 1943 he studied economics at the University of Tartu . From December 16, 1945 he worked as a theologian of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church (EELK) in Kihelkonna , Kaarma , Kuressaare , Muhu , Rõuge and Riisipere .

Artur Tammiko died in Tallinn in 1981 at the age of 78. He was buried in the Liiva cemetery in the Tallinn district of the same name.
