Arum purpureospathum is a plant from the genus Aronstab ( Arum ) in the family of Araceae (Araceae).

description

Arum purpureospathum is a perennial tuber that reaches heights of 35 to 45 centimeters. The tuber is vertical. The inside of the spathe ™ tube is solid purple, the outer-side green as the leaves and stems, but with purple stripes. The hem shines purple on the inside and outside, only the bottom is green on the outside. The appendages of the spadix are black-purple and club-cylindrical. The petioles are semicircular. The fruit ear is 6.5 to 8 centimeters tall and oblong-cylindrical. The inflorescence smells like horse manure.

The flowering period extends from February to April.

Occurrence

Arum purpureospathum is endemic to southwest Crete in the Chania regional unit . The species occurs in partially shaded locations under rocks, trees and walls at altitudes of 0 to 800 meters.
