Arvid Schenk (born July 28, 1989 in Rostock ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper and today's coach .

Career as a player

Schenk is the son of decathlete Christian Schenk . He began his career in the youth of Hansa Rostock , from which he made the jump to the U-23 team in the 2008/09 season. By the end of the season he eight times guarded the gate of the Hanseatic League, before the summer of 2009 to the second team of FC St. Pauli moved. Schenk was able to prevail right away in Hamburg and was seeded number 1. For the 2012/13 season, he left FC St. Pauli in the direction of VfL Wolfsburg's U-23 . There he came to only four league appearances in two years due to injury. His contract was not renewed in June 2014.

In October 2014 he was signed by the Scottish first division club FC Dundee as a replacement for their second goalkeeper, as regular goalkeeper Scott Bain should be out for a long time after an injury. Schenk made his league debut on January 1, 2015 at the Dundee Derby against Dundee United , which was lost 6-2. He did not play another league game for Dundee FC after that, as his contract only ran until January 31, 2015. After keeping fit at Eintracht Braunschweig , he signed with Hamburg's upper division Altona 93 for the 2015/16 season . After a year, Schenk moved to SV Eichede for the 2016/17 season , for whom he played ten times in the Regionalliga Nord . Then he ended his career.

Career as a coach

In the 2017/18 season Schenk was the goalkeeping coach of the U11 to U13 ( E and D youth ) at Hamburger SV . He has been the goalkeeping coach of the second team since the 2018/19 season . Schenk also works as a private fitness trainer.
