Asaf Ali Asghar Fyzee

Asaf Ali Asghar Fyzee (born April 10, 1899 in Matheran , † October 23, 1981 in Bombay , Maharashtra ) was an Indian Ismaili diplomat and lawyer . He was a member of the Sulaimani Bohras .

Together with the Russian Ismailism Researchers Vladimir Alexeyevich Ivanov (1886-1970) was Fyzee founding member of the Ismaili Society in Bombay under the patronage of Sultan Muhammad Shah Aga Khan III . In 1949 he was appointed Indian ambassador to Egypt .

He edited and commented on the Da'a'im al-Islam (The Pillars of Islam, The Pillars of Islam) by the Fatimid jurist and author Qadi an-Numan (Cairo, 1951), the legal compendium that is binding for the Ismailis today (see main article Ismaili School of Law ). Fyzee bequeathed his manuscript collection to the University of Bombay in 1957 .
