Aschauer Klause

The Aschauer Klause is a hermitage in the Aschauer Klamm on the Reiter Alm in the area of ​​the municipality of Schneizlreuth .

The hermitage is under monument protection and is registered under the number D-1-72-131-58 in the Bavarian monument list.

Building description

The Triftklause consists of quarry stone masonry and was built around 1796.

history

Since the forests in Bad Reichenhall could only supply a limited amount of wood to fire the brine pans of the saline to produce salt from brine , the forests in the area were used as early as the Middle Ages. Today's Aschauer Klause was built towards the end of the 18th century and was built in the course of the renovation of the Bavarian salt pans by Johann Sebastian von Clais to replace obsolete structures.

In the years 1811/12 the Aschauer Klause delivered 300 fathoms of wood to the saltworks in Reichenhall. The trift to the Saalach took four hours, the way to the trift facilities in Bad Reichenhall another four hours.

In 2017 the roof of the hermitage was renewed by citizens from Schneizlreuth themselves. The material was made available by the Bavarian State Forests , the municipality of Schneizlreuth supported the work with the material transport.

The Aschauer Klause is located at the upper end of the Aschauer Klamm and can be reached via a hiking trail either through the Aschauer Klamm or from Oberjettenberg .
