The Aschener Moor nature reserve was a nature reserve in the Diepholz district in Lower Saxony until March 7, 2012 . It belonged to the natural region Ems-Hunte-Geest and Dümmer-Geestniederung. With effect from March 8, 2012, the nature reserve was combined with the Am Heeder Moor nature reserve to form the Aschener Moor / Heeder Moor nature reserve . The strip of land between the two smaller moors was included in the unified moors.

The 186.0 hectare nature reserve with the license plate number NSG HA 094 was 4 km northwest of the Diepholz district of Aschen , on the border with the district of Vechta . In the field are abgetorfte , partly in bog - regeneration areas located included, but also bog birch forests and grasslands . Habitat for animal and plant species in need of protection that are dependent on the raised bog and its peripheral areas should be preserved, cared for and developed. The area also serves as a regeneration pool for plant and animal species of the raised bog for adjacent bog areas that have been industrially peated.

history

By ordinance of February 18, 1986, the “Aschener Moor” area was declared a nature reserve. The district of Diepholz was responsible as the lower nature conservation authority.

Through the originally 4.2 km long moor path in the Aschen Moor from the pre-Roman Iron Age around the years 65 and 35 BC. The Aschener Moor nature reserve is important for science and local history.
