Ashikaga Yoshiakira
Ashikaga Yoshiakira ( Japanese 足 利 義 詮 ; * July 4, 1330 ; † December 28, 1367 ) was the second shogun of the Ashikaga shogunate and ruled from 1358 to 1367 during the Muromachi period of Japanese history. Yoshiakira was the son of the founder and first Shogun of the dynasty, Ashikaga Takauji .
He spent his childhood hostage of the Hōjō clan in Kamakura . His father Takauji allied himself with the exiled emperor Go-Daigo , and when the Kamakura shogunate was finally overthrown, the emperor began the Kemmu restoration , Yoshiakira was stationed in Kamakura.
Due to internal disputes in the government, Yoshiakira was called back to Kyoto . He followed his father after his death in 1358 as Seii Taishogun .
A year after his death, he was followed by his son Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in 1368 as the third shogun.
His grave is in Tō-ji , Kyōto .
