Ashley John Cooper , AO (born September 15, 1936 in Melbourne ; † May 22, 2020 there ) was an Australian tennis player .
Cooper's greatest year as a tennis player was in 1958 when he won the men's singles at Wimbledon , the Australian Open and the US Open . In 1957 and 1958 he was number 1 in tennis. After 1958 he switched to professional tennis players.
In 2007 Cooper was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of Australia .
