Ask is a village in the Norwegian municipality of Gjerdrum in the province ( Fylke ) Viken . The place represents the administrative center of Gjerdrum.

geography

Ask is located in the geographical center of the municipality of Gjerdrum, which is located in the northeast of Oslo . Fylkesvei 120, which runs north-south through Gjerdrum, runs through the village. Fylkesvei 1542 branches off in Ask and provides the connection to Ullensaker . Both roads also provide a connection to European route 6 (E6). The town of Grønlund is a little northwest of Ask .

population

Until 2013, Ask was a so-called Tettsted , i.e. a settlement that is counted as a place for statistical purposes. In the statistics for 2012, the place was listed with 1967 inhabitants, the neighboring Grønlund with 2392. Since 2013, the two places are rated as one Tettsted. This is called Grønlund and has 5108 inhabitants (as of 2020).

Until the end of 2019, Ask was part of what was then Akershus Province . As part of the regional reform in Norway, this was transferred to the newly formed Fylke Viken.

On December 30, 2020, a landslide destroyed several residential buildings in Ask. Seven bodies had been recovered by January 4, 2021.
