The Aspara ( Kazakh Аспара ) or Ashmara ( Kyrgyz Ашмара ) is a right tributary of the Kuragaty in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan .

The Aspara rises on the northern slope of the Kyrgyz Mountains in Kazakhstan, not far from the border with Kyrgyzstan. The Aspara flows through the mountains in a northerly direction. It forms the border between Kazakhstan in the west and Kyrgyzstan in the east. The places Granitogorsk and Chaldowar lie on the river. It then flows through the Kazakh steppe landscape and reaches the Kuragaty, a left tributary of the Tschüi , which flows in a northeastern direction . The last kilometers of the river lie entirely within Kazakhstan. The Aspara has a length of 108 km. It drains an area of ​​1210 km². The mean discharge is 3.31 m³ / s. The maximum (monthly) discharge is 9.66 m³ / s, the lowest is 1.02 m³ / s.
