Asqar Quanyschuly Schumaghalijew ( Kazakh Асқар Қуанышұлы Жұмағалиев , Russian Аскар Куанышевич Жумагалиев / Askar Zhumagaliyev ; * 2. August 1972 in Akbulak , Orenburg , RSFSR ) is a Kazakhstan politicians and businessman.

Life

Asqar Schumaghalijew was born in Akbulak in Orenburg Oblast in 1972 . He graduated from the Suvorov Military School in Sverdlovsk, Russia, and then began studying at a military college in Kharkiv before studying at the Kazakh National Technical University in Almaty after the collapse of the Soviet Union . He also obtained a second degree from the Kazakh University of Humanities and Law in Nur-Sultan (Astana until 2019) and left the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne with an Executive Master's degree in e-Governance.

Before joining the civil service, he was director of the Kazakh satellite operator Zharyk from 1996 to 1998. In January 2001 he was employed in the Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Kazakhstan and from 2004 to 2005 he was Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Informatization and Communication.

On January 27, 2006 he became chairman of the Agency for Informatization and Communication. He held this post until October 9 of the same year. After that, Shumaghaliev became chairman of the board of KazakhTelecom .

By a decree of President Nursultan Nazarbayev , he became Minister of the newly created Communication and Information Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan on March 12, 2010 . After this ministry was dissolved in 2012, he moved to the Ministry of Transport and Communications as minister . Since 2015 he has been Chairman of Kazatomprom , Kazakhstan's state-owned uranium mining company.

On July 29, 2017, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

Personal

Asqar Schumaghalijew is married to Ainur Mämi (* 1979), the daughter of Qairat Mämi, and has a son and a daughter with her.
