Ghalymshan Pirmatov

Ghalymschan Olschauly Pirmatow ( Kazakh Ғалымжан Олжаұлы Пірматов , Russian Галымжан Олжаевич Пирматов / Galymschan Olschajewitsch Pirmatow * 24. April 1972 ) is a Kazakh businessman.

Life

Ghalymshan Pirmatow was born in 1972 in the Chimkent Oblast of the Kazakh SSR . He graduated from Novosibirsk State University in Russia in 1993 . In 1995 he graduated from the Kazakh Institute for Management, Economics and Forecasting in Almaty . He obtained a third degree from the Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University in 2001 .

He began his professional career in 1994 as the Finance Director of Altyn-Tas. Between 1998 and 1999 he was director of the finance department of Minaret Grupp Sekjuritis before he worked for a few months at AIG Silk Road Capital Management as director of the investment department. He then worked in Ukraine for several years, including for AES KijewOblEnergo and AES Ukraina. Then he went back to Kazakhstan where he initially worked for Almaty Power Consolidated, an energy company from Almaty. Here he was deputy general director of the economic department. From 2005, Pirmatow headed various departments, including the investment banking department at Halyk Bank .

His first political post was on December 21, 2007 when he was appointed Deputy Minister of Economy and Budget. He held this position until March 20, 2009. He then became deputy chairman of BTA Bank , which had to be nationalized due to massive debts. In July 2009 he moved to the state-owned company Kazatomprom, where he became Vice President of the Department of Economy and Finance. From 2011 to 2015, he managed the Kazakh subsidiary of the Canadian mining company Cameco . From December 2015 to August 2017 he was Deputy Chairman of the Kazakh National Bank . Pirmatow has been CEO of Kazatomprom since August 31, 2017.
