Cameco Corporation is a Canadian company based in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan . The company, in the form of a public company, is listed on the S & P / TSX 60 financial index on the Toronto Stock Exchange . Cameco is the world's largest producer of uranium .

Cameco was formed in 1988 through the merger of Eldorado Mining and Refining Limited (later better known as Eldorado Nuclear ) and Saskatchewan Mining Development Corporation (SMDC) .

Cameco operates various uranium mines in Saskatchewan and a uranium enrichment refinery and uranium conversion facility located in Ontario , either alone or in partnership with other companies .

The company had sales of approximately 2.4 billion Canadian dollars or approximately 1.85 billion US dollars in 2014 .
