CCL Industries is a Canadian packaging company based in Toronto . The company is publicly listed and part of the S & P / TSX 60 index of the Toronto Stock Exchange . Labels , food packaging, packaging for health and pharmaceutical products and security printing products are manufactured at over 165 locations worldwide .

The company was founded in Toronto in 1951 as Connecticut Chemicals Limited and renamed CCL Industries in 1979. Connecticut Chemicals Limited began as a contract manufacturer of various consumer goods and didn't expand into the labels and packaging business until 1980. An IPO was carried out in 1999. The complete break with the old business strategy came in 2005 when the contract manufacturing business was sold for 256 million Canadian dollars. In 2013, CCL Industries acquired the Avery self-adhesive label brand from Avery Dennison for $ 500 million.
