Kinross was formed in 1993 by the merger of three companies: "Plexus Resources Corporation", "CMP Resources Ltd." and "1021105 Ontario Corp.". It currently operates mines in the US , Canada, Brazil , Chile , Ghana , Mauritania, and the Russian Federation. North and South America account for 53% of production, West Africa for 19% and the Russian Federation for 28%.

The gold equivalent production was in 2012 = 2,617,813 ounces, in 2013 = 2,631,092 ounces and in 2014 = 2,710,390 ounces.

history

1993: The company was founded by Robert M. Buchan on May 31, 1993 through the merger of CMP Resources Ltd., Plexus Resources Corporation and 1021105 Ontario Corporation. On June 1, 1993, Kinross was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ .

1994: The company was listed on the New York Stock Exchange and listed under the symbol "KGC" on October 17, 1994.

1995: The Company acquired the Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, Ontario from Barrick Gold Corporation

1996: The mines in 1996 are: QR Mine in British Columbia; Delamar Mine in Idaho; Denton-Rawhide Mine and Candelaria Mine in Nevada; Hoyle Pond Mine in Timmins, Ontario; Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, Ontario; the Blanket mine and a gold mine in Zimbabwe Kopje.

1997: In April 1997, the company acquired an additional 50% stake in Goldbanks Nevada real estate from Restoration Minerals Company. Kinross now owns 100% of the shares in Goldbanks.

1998: The company completes the acquisition of "Amax Gold Inc." and its subsidiaries. That means the acquisition of the Fort Knox Mine near Fairbanks, Alaska, a 50% interest in the Maricunga Mine in Chile and a 50% interest in the Kubaka Mine in the Russian Far East.

1999: In February 1999 the company acquired "La Teko Resources Ltd.", followed in June by the acquisition of the remaining 59% of "True North Alaska". This increased the proportion to 100%.

2008: The company had sales of $ 1.61 billion, up 48% from 2007. The company hits a new production record with the production of 1.8 million ounces of gold equivalent in 2008 (an increase of 16% over 2007). The entry into the “Lobo-Marte Project” expands the presence in Chile.

2013: On October 1, 2013, commercial production began in the Dvoinoye mine (Russian Federation). The mine is expected to have between 235,000 and 300,000 ounces of gold equivalent in the first three years of production.
