New Gold is a Canadian gold mining company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the symbol NGD. The company's headquarters are in Toronto , with an additional office in Vancouver . As of August 2019, the company owns two producing gold mines in Canada and one in Mexico. In addition, New Gold is pursuing another exploration project called Blackwater in Canada.

New Gold Inc. was formed on June 30th, 2008 through the merger of the three mining companies 'old' New Gold, Metallica Resources Inc. and Peak Gold. With the brought in three producing mines Amapari Brazil , Peak Mines Australia and Cerro San Pedro Mexico 233,000 oz of gold were produced. The largest development project was the Afton Mine in Canada with estimated gold reserves of around 8 million oz. The company also owned 30% (together with Goldcorp ) in the El Morro copper-gold-silver project. In May 2009 there was another merger of the company with Western Goldfields Inc., whereby the Mesquite Mine in California could be gained as another gold mine. In January 2010, the Amapari Mine was sold to Beadell Resources Ltd. for $ 63 million. sold.

In 2011 the company acquired the so-called Blackwater Project in British Columbia for $ 600 million. The total estimated gold show for the project was 8.8 million oz. The following year, 2012, New Afton became the fourth producing mine.

In June 2013, Rainy River Resources Ltd. (with the Rainy River gold project of the same name in British Columbia ) for $ 300 million. On October 6, 2017, this mine produced the first 500 ounces of gold. Rainy River produced approximately 39,325 ounces of gold and 57,764 ounces of silver in the first quarter of 2018.

In July 2015, New Gold announced the sale of its 30% stake in the El Morro Mine to Goldcorp . In February 2017, a remaining claim to gold production from this mine was sold to Goldcorp Inc. for USD 65 million.

In November 2017, New Gold announced the sale of the Peak Mines gold mine for $ 58 million. The sale of the Peak Mines gold mine in Australia was completed in April 2018.

In September 2018, New Gold announced the sale of the Mesquite Gold Mine for US $ 158 million in cash to Equinox Gold Corp. on. The Mesquite Gold Mine in California was producing an average of 135,000 ounces of gold per year at the time. The sale was successfully completed in October 2018.

Significant quantities of by-products are produced in gold production. New Gold produced an additional 85 million pounds of copper and 0.7 million ounces of silver in 2018.
