Nutrien is a Canadian mining company and the world's largest producer of potash fertilizers , as well as the second largest producer of nitrogen fertilizers . The company was formed in 2018 through the merger of the two Canadian fertilizer producers Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan and Agrium and is headquartered in Saskatoon , which was taken over by PotashCorp. According to its own information, Nutrien accounts for 63% of the total North American production capacity for potash salt. This proportion is 25% for phosphate, 22% for ammonia and 21% for urea. Nutrien holds 50% of the shares in Canpotex , the other half is owned by Mosaic . Nutrien is a member of the leading Canadian index S & P / TSX 60 .
