Waste Connections is an American waste disposal company from The Woodlands , Texas . Waste Connections operates garbage disposal in the United States and Canada and takes care of the ultimate disposal of the waste by sending it to its own recycling facility or landfill . Both household waste and hazardous waste from households and industrial plants are disposed of.

The company was founded in 1997 in Folsom , California and later moved to offices in Sacramento . Since 1998, the company's shares have been traded on the NASDAQ . The listing was moved to the NYSE in 2002 . Due to numerous company acquisitions since its foundation, the business area expanded and a few years later included the majority of the US states. In 2012, the company's headquarters were relocated to The Woodlands. Since the takeover of the Canadian Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. In 2016, Waste Connections shares will also be listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange . The company is part of the S & P / TSX 60 index.

Waste Connections was the third largest waste management company in North America in 2016.
