Astrid Heeren (born January 29, 1940 in Mannheim ) is a German actress and model . She is considered one of the most sought-after fashion models of the 1960s. She achieved international fame mainly through the role of Gwen in Thomas Crown is unbelievable .

Life

Childhood and youth

Astrid Heeren grew up in Mannheim, where she was born, as the granddaughter of an architect and a lawyer . There she attended the Liselotte grammar school . Heeren was considered a good student, but her parents decided to take her out of school after the upper secondary school. She then completed an apprenticeship as a technical draftsman at the BBC . She graduated with distinction. She then attended the Karlsruhe Art Academy . There she was described by her professors as a "tremendous talent".

Career

Astrid Heeren did not graduate from the art academy and moved to Paris to pursue an international career. Vogue sent her to Mexico for a photo shoot in 1961 . Back in Paris she was discovered by Roger Vadim and got a role in his film Vice and Virtue . At times she turned down many film offers to travel the world and earned her living as a photo model for magazines such as Vogue , Harpers' Bazaar and Petra . Other American productions followed, such as Thomas Crown is unbelievable (1968) and The Castle in the Ardennes (1969). In 1972 she starred in Night of the Dark Full Moon . In April 1970 and January 1972 it graced the cover of Cosmopolitan .
