Athmallik is a small town in the Indian state of Odisha .
Athmallik used to be in the principality of the same name and is now in the Angul district, 140 km west of Cuttack . The city is located on the left bank of the Mahanadi . To the north, the city is flanked by a ridge of the Eastern Ghats .
In the 2011 census, the population was 12,298. The city has the status of a Notified Area Council .
