Atoka is a city and county seat in Atoka County , in the US state of Oklahoma .
The city was named after a Choctaw chief named Chief Atoka , who signed the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek in 1830 . Its name is derived from the Choctow word hitoka or hetoka , which means ball playground .
