Attemsmoor
The Attemsmoor is a moor named after Count Attems in southern Styria . It is located in the northern municipality of Straß in Styria in the direction of Lind and is close to the Pyhrn A9 motorway . It extends over almost 15 hectares, of which 8 hectares are fen .
The moor is a flow moor of the Linderbach . It developed out of a flood moor . A flow of groundwater just below the moor surface creates a rapidly growing, loose peat with a high expansion capacity. This means that if there is a change in the water supply (precipitation phase), the surface of the bog can rise and fall and the groundwater never comes to the surface.
The moor can be explored via stick paths and footbridges on a secured moor path with viewing points. In the Austrian moor protection catalog , the Straßer Attemsmoor is given national importance.
